Job Description

Maintains sources of data for Legal Operations (with focus on ONIT), performing reconciliations on multiple databases to ensure data quality.

Builds reports and analytics, helping drive accountability on critical metrics.

Responsible for responding or raising questions/requests from billing stakeholders (internal/external).

Documents and/or develops workflows and processes in connection with systems changes and transformation projects.

Qualifications

  • Two to four years’ experience required

  • Owns the end-to-end implementation software products and services. This includes project scoping, planning, development, installation, configuration, deployment, and support.
  • Owns client communication process and is responsible for setting client expectations on a project basis.

  • Understand, develop, and implement integrations with a variety of systems including AD, Microsoft SQL Server Systems, flat files, XML files, and APIs on behalf of clients
  • Provision Boomi ATOMS and troubleshoot on-prem resource access
  • Deliver new integrations as both a technical resource for configuration and a functional resource working closely with client teams
  • Perform maintenance activities for our client integrations, including troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • Be responsible for the overall integration strategy and rationalization of integrations
  • Populate cloud-hosted systems using REST services
  • Work closely with clients to roll out new software solutions that contain their data
  • Review and resolve complex technical support requests as needed
  • Consistently maintains 80-90% of time spent on client-billable projects

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • At least 2-5 years of experience in a customer-facing software implementation role in a legal services/law firm environment.
  • Experience writing Microsoft SQL Server queries with a solid understanding of relational database structure and normalization
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft SQL scripting language
  • Competent in the following areas: problem solving, customer-focus, communication, collaboration, organizational support, quality focus, and punctuality

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert proficiency in the following technical areas: XML, JQUERY/JSON, REST APIs
  • Expert proficiency in the following technical areas: IIS, SSL, XML, JQUERY
  • Experience using Sisense reporting tool
  • Experience in Legal systems such as Intapp, Aderant, Elite, iManage
  • Advanced level of knowledge in the legal operations and technical fields
  • Successful completion of certification in relevant areas

An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Legal Project Manager (LPM) to be a part of our global Legal Project Delivery (LPD) team. The LPD team are client facing and work with lawyers and other support teams to enhance our delivery of legal matters via the application of legal project management and process optimisation.

The Legal Project Manager will support the team in driving the delivery of the team’s strategy. Bird & Bird’s Global Legal Project Delivery team comprises qualified legal project managers and process design specialists who are integrated into our matter delivery teams to support colleagues and clients across our 32 offices to ensure we are delivering legal matters in the most efficient way possible.

What you’ll do

  • Support matter fee earners on complex matters by guiding them through best practice approaches at each stage of the matter lifecycle
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across the firm and ensure open communication and knowledge sharing
  • Coach junior team members and provide guidance and support where required
  • Act as a point of contact for clients, setting the agenda for, and leading, regular project meetings and tracking action points through to completion
  • Support fee earners in effectively scoping matters and applying the most appropriate resource model
  • Develop and maintain bespoke project trackers and reporting templates where required to best meet client requirements
  • Managing risks and scope creep throughout the life of a matter
  • Coordinate multiple parties, across practice group and jurisdictions as required

About you

  • Project management experienced gained in a law firm or professional services firm
  • APM qualified or similar

What Success Looks Like In This Role

E-Billing, Outside Counsel / Vendor Management, Technology / Data Management

  • Serve as the internal owner of OGC’s e-billing operation, including assisting with onboarding of vendors and outside counsel, management and enforcement of OGC’s Billing Guidelines, and directing outside counsel regarding e-billing and related matters.
  • Ensure that OGC has updated and reliable data in its case management software.
  • Lead extensive data collection and reporting process for risk management and insurance reporting requirements.
  • Serve as liaison with USC’s Information Technology Systems in implementing and utilizing legal technology systems.
  • Provide education and support to OGC staff in use of technology tools for matter and law firm management.
  • Manage e-discovery vendor relationships and all vendor onboarding.

Financial Management

  • Monitor legal spend for OGC, including proactive reporting to determine trends in terms legal spend and case types, and progress against budget, goals, and benchmarks.
  • Help to manage OGC’s budgeting and internal financial reporting, including the preparation of regular reports and presentations regarding budgets and spend.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department in developing, managing, and forecasting the outside counsel budget.
  • Compile and analyze data in order to produce dashboards, success metrics, analytics, and reports for various audiences.
  • Own law firm and consultant engagements, including reviewing and negotiating agreements and rates consistent with Billing Guidelines.

Additional Responsibilities Might Include

  • Manage a variety of short and long-term special projects for OGC as determined by the General Counsel and directed by the Associate General Counsel.
  • Oversee the development of the web presence and functionality for OGC.

Key Attributes We Are Looking For

  • 5-7 years’ experience in management of complex projects, analyzing data and providing recommendations based on such data.
  • Expert experience with Legal Tracker and PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated administrative and project management skills, particularly with cross functional teams.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
