Responsibilities:
Under guidance from the Head of Commercial & Legal Operations:
- Engage and work closely with the Practice Area Leader and other key stakeholders to understand and proactively support business strategy, operations, challenges, opportunities and priorities;
- Work with the Finance Partner to monitor, report on and (where necessary) proactively address commercial performance;
- Work with the Practice Area Leader and Finance Partner to assess the commercial viability of existing pricing models, matter resourcing and the suitability of key performance metrics;
- Engage and work collaboratively with the Finance Team on financial/commercial matters, including projects, data collection, analysis and reporting;
- Work with the Practice Area Risk Manager to help eliminate, mitigate and/or manage risk, including supporting risk and compliance-related projects, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing solutions;
- Work with the Practice Area Leader and Talent team to identify and support progression to partnership, particularly those working to challenging time frames;
- Support the delivery of strategic projects within the Practice Area, working closely with members of the Commercial & Legal Operations team, business services teams and clients (as required);
- Apply best practice, using critical and commercial thinking to improve the efficiency of processes and maximise profit, while optimising legal service delivery to clients;
- Unlock value, uncover hidden trends and ensure commercial and operational processes are functioning as efficiently as possible to maximise fee earner time and profitability;
- Provide practical advice and expertise to optimise the design and delivery of legal advice, applying project management and continuous improvement methodologies and tools to map, analyse and redesign legal processes, identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions;
- Develop and maintain operational documentation, such as process maps, procedures, guides, templates, checklists, etc.;
- Embody and promote a culture of operational excellence within the Practice Area;
- Such other duties as may from time to time be required.
