Purpose of the job

The Knowledge Solutions Manager role forms part of our global Knowledge Management team and involves working across our global jurisdictions to support our legal practice teams in the delivery of client services.

The role will focus on providing legal tools which support efficient and effective legal operations. These may be a combination of collaboration, automation, client portals and knowledge databases to support and promote business improvement, knowledge sharing, talent development and business development. The role will be responsible for translating the firms’ legal business needs into fit for purpose pragmatic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help implement and communicate the Knowledge strategy for the Firm and ensure implementation is aligned with the Firm’s business goals and client requirements
  • Manage the consolidation of the wider firm legal, client and business knowledge resources to enable compatibility and availability of content across practice, industry, markets, and sectors
  • Help bring efficiencies to the set up and ongoing delivery of legal, client and business knowledge content, improving the Firm’s ability to service its internal and external clients efficiently and in a cost-effective manner
  • Drive forward the integration and alignment of legal, client and business knowledge solutions with the wider firm utilising existing platforms, as much as possible
  • Collaborate closely with practice and industry group lawyers, Knowledge Lawyers to co-ordinate client facing knowledge projects and ensure their successful implementation
  • Assist with the Firm’s efforts to find innovative ways of using its know-how to add value to key client relationships, including revenue generating services to clients
  • Manage relevant knowledge databases and websites for internal and external use and maintain their integrity on behalf of the business
  • Ensure mechanisms are in place to measure the ROI of client and business knowledge initiatives and provide reporting as needed
  • Build our collaboration tools internally and externally to support knowledge sharing within teams and outwards with our clients
  • Assist lawyers with the authoring processes, proofing content for our website, in consultation with the BDM team, and when necessary, loading content to websites, other databases and client portals
  • Manage the post matter capture of content for the deals database and ensure this is maintained for use in business marketing opportunities, internal cross selling, and directory submissions
  • Undertake research projects on behalf of the business
  • Cover for the absence of other KM team members as and when required
  • Participate in broader KM projects and initiatives as and when required
  • Any other duties as required by the Chief Operations Officer

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level
  • A relevant professional qualification is desirable but not essential. Relevant experience is much more important

Knowledge/skills/experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a law firm setting
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders, suppliers, lawyers and business services professionals of all levels
  • Experience of using legal tech solutions such as Contract Express, iManage or similar platforms
  • User centric approach to services and commercial awareness
  • Able to represent the team and the firm professionally and positively both internally and externally
