About the job
Digital change presents opportunities and challenges for businesses in all industries. The Digital Advisory function plays an important role in helping in-house counsel respond to the impact that emerging technologies are having on their business and the legal function by:
overseeing and coordinating the marketing and delivery of legal advice on transactions, regulations, and disputes relating to emerging technologies across the 400+ tech savvy lawyers worldwide who make up our award-winning Emerging Technology Group; and
working directly with clients (usually senior members of in-house legal teams, but on occasion other functions such as procurement, company secretarial or compliance) to support with internal efficiency and operational effectiveness, with particular focus on the adoption and use of emerging legal technologies including artificial intelligence, as part of and alongside our Tier 1 ranked legal operations advisory function.
The Role
The Senior Analyst will have knowledge of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, blockchain and digital assets, and the metaverse, and must be willing to build on their capability and experience in this area.
The Senior Analyst will deliver to our clients excellent legal and legal transformation consulting services relating to emerging technologies, assisting with knowledge / business development / marketing activities, and support the Director and Executive of Emerging Technology on other strategic and management matters.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Emerging Technology team in shaping and delivering client services as efficiently and effectively as possible. This will involve supporting the Director and Executive with day-to-day legal and legal transformation consulting tasks including:
Client Advice
- assisting on delivering, coordinating and curating input from across functions (including lawyers and others) excellent legal advice and legal transformation consulting advice to clients as relates to emerging technologies including artificial intelligence;
- assisting on the scoping, planning, and reporting for client matters including developing matter plan and timelines, providing regular updates to internal and client stakeholders, monitoring progress against scope, timeline, and cost parameters, and (where required) supporting the billing process and WIP management;
- supporting ad hoc research, queries, and similar in respect of emerging technologies in line with business and team priorities;
- assisting with proposing, testing, and delivering to clients’ service and product offerings relating to emerging technologies including through partnering, co-venturing and active collaboration / experimentation;
- building a strong internal network to facilitate collaboration across cross-functional teams to support the delivery of client work, communicating with clients and the firm’s lawyers and others within the UK, US & EMEA (and other jurisdictions as required) on a regular basis, including responding to ad hoc queries in a timely and proactive manner;
Business Development & Marketing
- supporting on client pursuit and engagement including preparing content for marketing and business development activities including pitches, training, client meetings, press, and marketing, maintaining cross-functional materials as up to date, and assisting with production of reports, articles, consultations, webinars, roundtables, and events;
- identifying and supporting opportunities to grow the firm’s capability and work in respect of emerging technologies and informing strategy, business development, and marketing efforts by building detailed knowledge of client and market drivers relating to emerging technologies;
- staying abreast of emerging technology news and proactively sharing insights into the impact of news events on clients and sectors, leveraging data and insights on emerging technologies to help us identify and win new business as well as maintain and enhance existing client work;
Knowledge & Learning
- assisting with creating and maintaining training and know-how materials on emerging technologies and supporting on the delivery of content to colleagues in the UK, US & EMEA, including supporting on the running of regular internal knowledge sharing calls and newsletters;
- managing knowledge and content sharing, including building, documenting, overseeing, and administering relevant internal systems and processes;
Digital & Technical
- engaging with emerging technology tools such as artificial intelligence systems as part of client co-venturing and experimentation, including legal prompt engineering and similar activities.
