About the job

Kingsley Napley (KN) – LLP

Legal Product & Innovation Manager

We’re looking for a brand-new role at KN (and it’s a good one).

Now, we’re fully aware that ‘innovation’, ‘tech’ and ‘AI’ are everywhere – ‘buzz words’ of the moment if you will and everyone’s recruiting. But… if you’re excited by the prospect of joining a small & growing innovation team to drive forward a number of exciting projects, as well as shaping & influencing the firm’s future growth strategy… then read on.

Full disclaimer – there will be no emojis in this advert. Sorry, that’s just not who we are.

But what you will get is an honest and completely genuine description of the role; the exciting bits – and the challenges.

Overview:

KN as a law firm embraced innovation and technology a number of years ago and we’re in the fortunate position that these concepts have been accepted wholeheartedly internally – meaning we have a huge appetite to develop and grow in this area. Being at the start of a new business plan, with innovation at the core, and a defined strategic direction – we now need someone visionary, committed and passionate to help execute these plans. The firm has a number of exciting legal products which will soon go to market to service the firm’s clients – and so a huge part of this role, initially, will involve defining the roadmaps and spotting potential opportunities for further expansion.

What’s exciting?

  • The team are small and developing. This means that this individual will be in a pure client-facing/ product development capacity. You will liaise with key stakeholders across the firm and help to define the growth strategy more broadly
  • The team are working on some very exciting brand-new concepts which are in their infancy – again there is scope to really input here and help define and shape them
  • This role will allow you to be creative, innovative and dynamic in your approach. However excellent project management and organisational skills are a must – we do need a ‘completer/ finisher’ and will ask questions around this in the interview
  • You will work alongside the firm’s Innovation Partner as well as across the business and partnership – dealing directly with the most senior members of the firm
  • You will work for the Number 1 voted Law Firm in London by Best Companies. We genuinely value flexibility, wellness and wellbeing and allow every individual to authentically be themselves at work.

What’s challenging?

  • KN is a unique firm. We’re quite different and we punch well above our weight. For a firm of circa 500 people we have 13 defined practice areas; and whilst there is excellent cross collaboration – the challenges include a large number of different processes, systems, client groups and ways of working across all 13…
  • Innovation moves quickly and is one of the fastest developing areas. The aim will be to get the most out of our investments- continually looking ahead and being mindful of budgets and cost. We do not have the budgets of the Magic Circle (sadly)… and so this individual will need to be creative and resourceful in their approach
  • Many of the products are in their infancy – so whilst that is very exciting in itself, it also means there is a lot to do and bring together. There will be bumps in the road (map) and so this individual will have to be alive to that and change tact where they feel it is appropriate.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong product management/ product development experience and someone who is innovative and tech savvy
  • Of course a Law firm background/ professional services is ideal, but we would look outside of these sectors
  • Someone who loves what they do! Who is excited about innovation/ tech/ CI – can talk to these subjects really well and get others on board too
  • Someone creative and committed. Who is happy straddling a broader/ more strategic mindset and also working operationally to execute and drive forward plans
  • A ‘completer/ finisher’. Someone driven and committed to hitting key milestones and deadlines
  • An individual who is excited around the prospect of marketing the Innovation function to internal colleagues and practice groups
  • Someone reflective and honest – who values feedback, acts on it and can adapt their own style/ processes and roadmaps accordingly.

We are looking to hire ASAP and so if the above sounds interesting, please don’t hesitate to contact Natalie Slater (nslater@kingsleynapley.co.uk) – Head of Talent Attraction and Recruitment.

We also offer an excellent benefits package and have a flexible/ hybrid working model.
