About the job

We are currently recruiting for an eDiscovery Consultant to join the eDiscovery team on a permanent basis.

A&O Litigation are uniquely positioned within the firm to offer data services externally to our clients and internally to other departments as well as offering our core services to the Litigation team. The ability to provide professional and innovative eDiscovery services is a key part of the Litigation strategy. The ability to combine our legal expertise with data-driven solutions to our clients is a compelling story to tell.

Role purpose
The eDiscovery Consultant is a wide-ranging, senior-level role involved in nearly all aspects of the eDiscovery business at A&O including designing workflows using the latest technology, developing and presenting innovative education sessions and engaging with internal and external clients through the creation and delivery of marketing collateral and thought leadership pieces. This role is ultimately charged with providing excellent client service and expert technical guidance to the Global Litigation and other A&O practice groups. Given its wide remit, the role requires a person to have great depth and breadth of experience in eDiscovery and related services. The role is based in London and will report to the Global Head of eDiscovery Consulting.

Key relationships

  • Global eDiscovery stakeholders including A&O lawyers and Advanced Delivery and Solutions (AD&S) teams
  • Fellow eDiscovery team members to share knowledge and to enable best practice
  • Contacts from across the firm’s business functions to help facilitate team objectives
  • Account representatives from third-party software and service providers

Role and responsibilities

  • Delivering high-quality customer service thereby fostering internal and external client relationships
  • Providing expert guidance in the application of current technology including AI features and their use in culling, searching and pinpointing data
  • Advising on data collection scope and method including potential use of third-party forensic service providers
  • Designing and implementing efficient and defensible workflows for investigations, discovery, cyber and other client data-focused exercises
  • Continually improving best practices for application to all matters
  • Anticipating and proactively addressing business risk
  • Designing and presenting engaging education sessions for the global A&O network
  • Developing presentations and documentation for internal and external marketing initiatives

Key requirements

  • Excellent customer-oriented service ethos and client relationship management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the entire EDRM
  • Extensive experience with Relativity (Relativity Master preferred)
  • Deep understanding of forensic data collection tools and techniques
  • Relevant knowledge of current IT platforms typically connected with discovery exercises
  • Solid comprehension of disclosure-related rules including those of the US and UK
  • Hands-on experience with data processing tool(s) such as Relativity or Nuix
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail including working methodically
  • Ability to work apace and under pressure
  • Flexibility to work beyond office hours on occasion
  • Strong organisational skills, with ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Willingness to travel to other offices 3-4x annually
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Law or other relevant discipline advantageous
